How I’m Surviving the Hot Summer Texas Heat

Ya’ll it’s hot here in Texas. Every summer we question why we live here and endure the hot summer Texas heat – continually we remind ourselves it’s for our family. So moving away anytime soon just isn’t happening!

So here is my list of Texas-approved heat wave items that are keeping us going until fall:

Water table

Lenox loved his water table this summer! His favorite thing to do is fill up the toys and scoops with water and pour them over his head. With the 109 temps, I don’t blame him.

Sensory table

This didn’t necessarily help me survive the Texas heat, but it did fit on our back patio under the shade so at least Lenox was cool while playing. Of course, he just dumped the water on himself anyway.

Pool

Bulky and you will need a pump, but oh so fun! Lenox loved the fountains and putting the balls in the hoop. This held his attention for quite some time.

Fan

A must, but sometimes feels like you are just standing behind the motor of a car unless you get the attachment below.

Mister attachment

Easy to install and so worth it! This attachment turns any fan into an enjoyable Texas summer experience.

Squirrel house

When we are soaking up the AC we can at least look outside and watch the squirrels having fun at the nuthouse saloon. This has made some of our indoor stir-crazy moments a little more fun.

Stroller fan

I’ve been attempting to keep up with my morning walks. With this stroller fan, Lenox will last a little longer or if I get a later start it takes a bit of the heat off him.

Neck fan

And of course for the momma! Staying cool myself is important, but when/if his fan dies he’ll wear my neck fan too.

Rio

Funny, but also so serious.. Lenox wakes up saying “Rio”. The boy loves to watch the colorful birds of Rio fly around and dance to Samba! We have become quite stir-crazy so the Disney + app has made an appearance in our house, but Rio is as far as we ever get.

I know summer is almost over, but the Texas heat is still blazing. I’m hoping things cool off soon, but if not, maybe some of these items will help.
