valentine's day charcuterie board

Recently I’ve been into making charcuterie boards. I’ve always liked to eat them and I love aesthetically pleasing anything so I decided to amp up my snack-uation. I enjoy looking at others’ charcuterie boards for inspiration so I thought I’d throw my Valentine’s charcuterie board into the mix!

We have always stayed in for Valentine’s day. Logan, my husband, typically cooks an epic dinner. After I made our NYE charcuterie board and we had a great time grazing and spending this time together I thought maybe I’d do the same for Valentine’s day.

So I put this board together

So I put together this Valentine’s inspired charcuterie board

a red heart bowl filled with ranch dip surrounded by sliced radishes and red bell peppers. This is the center of a valentine charcuterie board

Typically I start with an idea – which usually comes from a theme. This board all stemmed from the idea of a heart bowl. I sent out specifically for a heart bowl and found this one at michaels. Obviously, this is a valentine inspired charcuterie board so I kept the colors red and white.

Red items I used were radish, bell pepper, apples, strawberries and meats. Other items you could use:

  • tomatoes
  • beets
  • grapes
  • raspberries
  • pomegranates
  • cherries

I like to pre-cut my cheese and meat as opposed to leaving it on the board uncut. It makes it a lot easier to eat and enjoy. You can cut and pre-prep most things – especially if you have airtight containers. Apples are always the last items to cut because they may brown. However apples kept very well in these airtight containers!

I’ve recently been adding more veggies to my boards for a lighter option to mix in. Here I added ranch dip, but hummus or any kind of favorite dip will do.

Always start with the bigger items.

I started with the bowl because this was a key element of my board. I then added my cheese and meat flowers. Next was the other heart-shaped dish and the veggies that I add around my bowl.

After this, I added the rest of my cheese, meat, and apples. After all your large items are placed, sprinkle in smaller things such as nuts, yogurt raisins, chocolate-covered almonds, and parm chunks. Add items that you or whoever you are sharing this will like.

Have Fun!

You can NOT mess this up. Enjoy what you are doing.

What kind of board should I do next??
