It was about that time for Logan and I to break away from being parents. A friend’s weekend in Wimberley Texas was just what the doctor ordered. This weekend couldn’t have come at a better time. Lenox has been teething, which causes him to be super fussy, and wake up often, throughout the night — Sorry Mom!
Our first stop out of Dallas was the Checz Stop in West, Texas right off Highway 35.
We loaded up on snacks and kolaches. I got a sausage and a plain cream cheese kolache.
We made it to Wimberley, Texas
Our house was big enough to house all nine friends and was only 2 miles from downtown Wimberly.
On our first evening, we ate at Creekhouse Kitchen and Bar.
I had the al pastor tacos + swapped a shrimp taco with my friend. I loved them both. However, we agreed the al pastor was our favorite. Logan had the chicken strips.

Each morning we were there I took a walk through the Blue Hole Regional Park. There are multiple trails. This park is filled with nature and features the very blue Cypress Creek. I even ran into numerous deer.
The second day was spent walking around Wimberely’s downtown.
I met an endangered boa…
We tried on Western attire…
and had lunch at Chills on the Creek where logan and I split the Beef steak, but it was so delicious I forgot to take a picture.
The fried portobello mushroom, fried boudin balls and the 20-dollar pitcher of margaritas were also a hit.
After lunch, we went back to the house to rest and pool lounge then got ready and headed back downtown Wimberly for dinner at Hildees.
I had the Salisbury steak and it was to die for!
Pictured below are their ceviche, wings and tots.
The next day was our designated pool day.
For lunch, the guys grilled and we continued to hang out at the Airbnb until it was time for dinner at Long Leaf.
Above is my shrimp and wild rice salad and below is the Lasagna, ribeye and créme brulee. Not pictured is the veggie lasagna; that was the general consensus winning dinner entree.
Time to leave our friend’s weekend in Wimberley
Concluding our friends’ weekend in Wimberley Texas we stopped in Austin for brunch on the way home at Phoebe’s Dinner. This meal was incredibly delish and the people were very friendly.
We enjoyed fried green tomatoes, fresh guava lemonade, a breakfast plate, chorizo migas and a chicken sandwich. I had the migas and man were they good! It may have been my favorite dish of the entire friend’s weekend.
Perhaps by now you have noticed my love for food and sharing the joy it brings me. Aside from the food I had an amazing time relaxing at the pool, my morning nature walks, discovering shops downtown, daily naps and all the time spent with friends. You better believe I was ready to return home and mom again!
