Being a member of the Dallas Arboretum you are gifted with 2 beautiful hours before the park opens to the public, called member morning walk. I’ve never taken advantage of the member morning walk until last week.
I’m getting into a great routine of walking every morning. Here in Texas, if you don’t get your walk in early you face the dreaded heat. I’ve even caught a tan this past week as I’ve amped up my outdoor walks.
Lenox wakes up routinely by 7 am. So I decided to finally make my way to the arboretum and see what is so special about the member morning walk at the arboretum.
I make him breakfast and then pack a bag of snacks for our outing because a hangry toddler is nothing you ever want to be in contact with.
The parking was the easiest I’ve ever encountered. I popped my little man into his stroller from our front-row parking spot then breezed right into the Arboretum.
With lots of shaded routes from trees, it was a cool and beautiful stroll.
Lenox is a great stroller, but I offered him an opportunity to roam where he wanted. Roam he did.
We found a spot to have snacks.
Where he “hid” from me for the first time. I was certain he was walking through the fence and flower pot to the other side where I was going to surprise him. Much to my surprise he stayed put, hiding, with a little grin on his face.
Then we headed home, but not before he fell and skinned his knee. It’s officially time to invest in cute little boyish bandaids.
The member morning walk is a serene opportunity to enjoy the park before it is too hot and too crowded. I’ve never been bothered with the amount of people at the arboretum but having the park nearly to yourself was enjoyable. Beating the heat was well worth packing the kiddo up early as well! This is a benefit I will use more often.
