Some affiliate links in this post may pay me, but it does not lessen my honest opinions. All statements about said items are true to my fullest sentiment.
For C-section
Big panties Just embrace the granny panty era for the time being. I couldn’t stand anything other than after my c-section.
Scar bandage After I got my bandage from surgery off I felt exposed. My scar felt sensitive and uncomfortable when touched. These scar bandages were the best thing!
Vaginal
Peri upside down bottle The hospital will more than likely give you a squirt bottle, but it will not be upside down like this one. Honestly, this is way easier to use to rinse any hard-to-reach areas.
All moms
Witch Hazel You will need witch hazel, whether it’s in the form of wipes, foam, pad, pad liners, or liquid to make your own, it will help with vaginal recovery ( or God forbid you get any hemroids).
Comfy nursing pajamas These are the comfiest jammies AND they are nursing friendly. I still wear them well after having my baby.
Kid suppository Laxitives are great, but these were instant. If you need an easy smooth move these are easy and quick.
Tea There was something about having my own special moment with a cup of tea, especially if I ever felt overwhelmed or needed to relax. Pink Stork has many different teas for new moms including postpartum recovery, hormone balance, relaxation and more.
Nursing pillows A nursing pillow is a must. Even if you are not nursing, it will give you a break from holding your baby while keeping them close.
Haaka suction breast pump If your opposite breast tends to leak while nursing this is super helpful to catch the milk for future use. Also, if your baby prefers one side to the other the Haaka suction breast pump can be helpful to release milk from the opposite side.
Sleep Duhhhh, but seriously! Get some sleep. Do not worry about your dishes or putting away the laundry if you need that nap. I used to laugh at the idea of sleeping when the baby sleeps, but just try it. Make your sleep a priority. Healing, hormone balancing, and mood boosts are all affected by sleep. Take care of yourself, momma!
Burp cloths I had so many burp cloths. They were everywhere. I did not regret it. My kiddo was a “happy spitter”. He was always spitting up. These come in a pack and are inexpensive. You won’t regret it.
Nipple cream If you are nursing, you may prefer to have nipple cream on hand. This brand among others are safe for your baby to nurse after use. Double-check before you use. Coconut oil is also baby-safe and healing for sore or cracked nipples.
Frozen meals If you are able to make some frozen meals before you go into labor you’ll be happy to have a home-cooked meal on days you are exhausted.
Nursing clothes My number one regret when buying maternity clothes was not investing in clothes with nursing access. I was left scrambling for clothes options when I came home.
Nursing bras Same with the clothes. I lived braless at home and ruined many shirts from leaking milk.
Belly wrap The hospital will more than likely give you one if you have a C-section, but I wasn’t betting on a C-section, so I purchased my own. I liked mine better than the hospital, but could have been just fine with the one from the hospital.
Postpartum vitamins I like Ritual. They are a great company with awesome customer service. They will mail to you each month, but you can cancel easily anytime. However, they are also on Amazon, if that is easier for you.
Aquaphor The clear Aquaphor is the way to go! You will be greasing up that little baby booty constantly because he or she will be pooping so much! This clear gel will keep them protected, and if it gets everywhere – and it will – it’s no big deal because it’s clear.
This is my grand ol list of postpartum must-haves that I loved or regretted not having sooner in my postpartum journey. I hope this helps to ease your transition into motherhood.
