A Personal Recount of 2023 So Far

This post is a personal recount of the first quarter of the year. I’m typically only personal in my emails each week, but I’ve decided to do a few updates where I can reflect and share a bit of my life. This is me catching you up to speed.

Where better to start than the new year?

My husband, Logan, and I brought in the New Year at home. We enjoyed a charcuterie board I made, inspired by Beautiful Boards, and popped a bottle of champagne. We’ve never enjoyed going out on popular holidays and New Year’s Eve is a tradition we will uphold – unless I get frisky and decide to host.

For now, it’s just for us.

We did the same thing for Valentine’s Day. Typically my husband cooks me a very nice dinner, but I think we enjoyed our epic NYE charcuterie we stuck with this trend for Valentine’s Day.

March was our son Lenox’s first birthday. The best thing I did for the birthday was buy a bounce house. Because of this, friends that brought kids were able to enjoy themselves.

We hosted a camp-themed birthday at our home for his birthday.

It was fun to put together and enjoy the first birthday bash trend. I am definitely looking forward to a very simple and subtle 2nd birthday celebration!

Just a few days after his birthday, I received a phone call that Lenox’s name was next on the list to start school. Within a week, I was having 2 days to myself each week.

It was fast and it was scary, but we got through it! He cried at every drop-off until recently. He is now leaping from my arms to go play and I am the one left crying.

Ya’ll, I’m slightly joking. I am pleased that he has adjusted well and enjoys going to school. He is actually learning a lot and has picked up more sign language. Though, I’m not sure if it’s even helping us. He often signs he wants food and then throws all the food to the dogs.

Since there aren’t many breaks around here or any regular date nights, Tuesdays and Thursdays have become our date days where we either clean our home, sleep or go to lunch or a movie.

In April, our son got his first sickness from school and it took me out with him. At the same time, he got his molars and we found out he has a bad reaction to amoxicillin. This is when I discovered the world’s greatest booty rash hack.

Still, I didn’t let this keep us from our yearly easter celebration at my Aunts.

I’ve been coughing for about a month straight. Finally, I started taking allergy medicine, religiously, and it has seemed to help. If you are wondering why it took me so long – I have never in my life had allergies. It didn’t cross my mind that it could be the source of my weird lingering cough.

Oddly, I’m grateful that it is. Even though I’m not one to want to take medicine daily. So if you have any natural allergy remedies I’m open to all reasonable suggestions!

Other than the daily mom grind I was able to get away for a bestie painting with a twist night,

Being a mom and getting out is doable!

It may take time to figure out how, but if it’s important you will find a way.

Thank you for reading! I look forward to sharing more of my daily life. If you enjoyed please like, comment and subscribe.

What a beautiful life! Those charcuterie boards look delicious. I have seasonal allergies too but unfortunately I have not discovered a natural treatment. Some say to try eating local honey – but I have not tried that. Love those paintings, so creative and what a great job everyone did! 🦋🌸

Thanks Jennifer! I try to stay busy and have fun for sure. It took me a while to adjust to mom life and now I’m tying to enjoy every bit. I’ll have to try the local honey and let you know!
